At 10pm on the opening night, I was kicking myself for not having booked my tickets before I paid for the parking! If only I had used BookEazy, I would be watching Hancock instead of staring wistfully at the doors of ESquare Screen 4! (If you don’t want to end up like me - go ahead and book your tickets right here.)

Luckily for me, I did not have to go home empty-handed… I was one of the last few people who bought tickets for Kung Fu Panda last night. (You can do that here too!) And I say ‘luckily’, not just ‘coz I paid for the parking, but because the movie, as the poster warns you, was pure awesomeness!
Kung Fu Panda is an animated movie about a rolly-polly-jolly panda, Po, that has a secret admiration of the Kung Fu masters of China. (At the time of filming - Tigress, Snake, Crane, Monkey, and Mantis). By a strange accident the wise old turtle - Oogway - chooses our jolly old Po as the “Dragon Master”, and then goes on to convince us, that there are indeed no accidents. No one takes Po seriously, till the ominous villain, a panther called Tai Lung threatens the peace of the valley. Then, they have to! Will Po rise to the occasion? Will Po be able to rid the valley of Tai Lung? Will Po be able to redeem Ooway’s belief? Your guess is as good as mine, but it’s still a whole lot of fun to watch
The animation is excellent. Especially the facial expressions of the Master Shifu. Doing the voices are some well known names like Angelina Jolie (Tigress), Lucy Liu (Snake), Jack Black (Po), Dustin Hoffman (Shifu) and Jackie Chan (Monkey).
See what some more reviews across the web are saying about KungFu Panda:
| ….. a solid animated flick for kids, and for any adults who are singing “Kung Fu Fighting” to themselves as they enter the multi-plex (guilty as charged)….Lori Hoffman [ Atlantic City Weekly ] |
…It’s funny at times, and quite exciting, but of course you know where it’s going from its opening moments, so no surprises dramatically…. |
| … It all whizzes along at an invigorating pace and there’s plenty to please a young child but if you’re looking for the kind of insights that made Ratatouille such a feast, you’ll have to wait for Pixar’s next…. Sandra Hall [ Sydney Morning Herald ] |
… Black blasts through Po, though, and lands on the furry character’s visual surface with all vocal cylinders revving….. Larry Ratliff [ San Antonio Express-News ] |
| … Willingly raucous and revved up for your escapist consideration do welcome this plump yet profoundly prancing panda into your thrill-seeking heart…. Frank Ochieng [ TheWorldJournal.com ] |
… Ratings Image B+ A collision of Black’s signature humor with a succession of surprisingly awesome fight scenes. … |
Do I need to say anymore to convince you that this movie is worth your money??? So what are you waiting for… go ahead!
