After being tired of mixed reactions, conflict in viewpoints and what we call ‘critical’ criticism, I’ve found a new way of reviewing the movies. Especially bollywood movies, which always have two sides that coincide with the nature of film critics.
So henceforth, we present The Angel Critic and The Devil Critic.
They saw Sarkar Raj at E-square last evening, here are the reviews!

Sarkar Raj is a indeed very enthralling. I felt gripped throughout the 125 minutes (and the 180 rupees) of showtime. The very first sequence of events portrays what is happening to the human condition. In this age of corruption and violence, this film throws enough light on the the Indian political situation.
Sarkar Raj not only captures a true positive image which embarks upon some leaders, but also the faith and courage that co-exists in their souls to make them what they are. Amen… it gives a nice feeling when Abhishek Bachchan says he believes in ‘Imaandari’. Eventhough he murders his brother in Sarkar, in Sarkar Raj he throws his mighty dialogue, “Is project par sirf emaandar log kaam karenge…”. I love it Abhishek. Amitabh Bachchan is a God’s gift to India. Someone as talented and skilled, can be called an epitome of perfection. Big B is no doubt the best actor, and now Abhishek also is following his dear father’s footsteps. Both father, son (and me, the holy spirit) have done complete justice to their roles. Aishwarya resembles the women from our world, she’s is so beautiful that I could watch Sarkar Raj again for her (btw I’m declaring that a lie, since I don’t lie). Ram Gopal Varma is a very good director. The very idea of making the Sarkar part 2 is so applealing. Don’t you feel watching him learning from his mistakes in R Jee Vee Kee Aag? Bless you R Jee Vee. Music, just amazing. I felt as if I’m in the Hare Krishna temple chanting, ‘Govinda, Govinda’… wah. But overall musically splendid, striking right chords on the most dramatic moments. Sarkar Raj does teach you a thing or two. It asks you to look a little deeper into the scenario. It urges you to take action about the corrupt and devilish politicians. Kindly see this movie if you care for our country. Although its just pure fiction, come on.. so what it is? |
Govinda, Govinda, Govinda, Govinda, Govindaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yaaawwwwwwwn… zzzz zzzzzz.
I just woke up, am I still in the theatre? No? Oh I’m writing a review. Sarkar Raj? What a drag! They were dragging me with all the murders in the movie. The murders were good, but so many, wow. Basically, the story is very simple - Watch all the murders in Sarkar, sleep, watch some the murders in Sarkar Raj, sleep, eat popcorn, watch more murders. You will sleep for sure, because after every murder the Bachchans take at least 10 minutes for every dialogue. hahahaha.. The devil rules! I rule Maharashtra, I rule all over, it’s my story. RGV’s project is to show you what I do. I’ve spread my wings on the Indian system. I spit fire on the minds of the leaders. I spread like cancer, I corrode the country to its core. This is my biography personified through the film’s characters. The story is based on this creed of politicians who believe they shouldn’t lie, but they can cheat. They could lead a simple life, but they can kill! Amazing isn’t it? Abhishek Bachchan, shown the Sarkar junior, is our territory warrior. Humans are animals too, can’t they do anything for their territory, kill, get killed? The Bachchans? They are born actors, they have to do a good job. And Mrs. Bachchan, are you not too gorgeous for a power-plant business tycoon? Never mind. Your blue eyes went fully red with a glycerin overdose. Don’t spoil all the beauty in your the next movie. Arre Ramu bhaiyya. Kitni baar aapko kaha hai, audience ko samajhna unko samjhane se achha nahi hai!? I do like your spirit of taking risks, being yourself, and expressing what you think, your way. Fair enough, leave it to the audience. Music? If you want to watch synchronous yawns with Govindaaaaa, its your chance. The contagiousness of a yawn is revelead when the whole E row was yawning one by one as, “Govindaayawwwnnn… Govindaayaaawwwwaaaaan” etc. So I’d surely recommend this, since the story is so close to my heart. Either when you want to add to your slothfulness topped with some craze, or if you want to understand a complex conspiracy, this is for you… |

I found the storyline quite gripping. I also found the utopian balance in the story very interesting. How when a character sledged from his utopian archetype, as in abhishek, he was dumped. there are some uncomfortable stereotypes coming into play, which i’d rather not discuss, but overall i found the movie intriguing, something a bollywood movie usually lacks. it made me feel the worth of the price of the ticket, again, something i dont feel when watching a bollywood flick. subhash jha slams amar for his audio score, but i think he did a VERY good job, bending emotions with his music and edging on every opportunity he got with the soundtrack. altogether a very good piece, could have been better, but nothing’s perfect. 4/5!

Smart way of putting up the review…though i think ‘the angel’ missed out on how beautifully & almost flawlessly the Bachchan trio presented the most emotional scenes in the movie with an intelligent few or no words. The power of silence still rules…..
I love Abhishek for his silent gestures, i think he has got the most expressive & intense eyes & he uses this asset of his so well, he is a heartthorb, Aishwarya is as beautiful as ever.
i guess the director has also set the court for two more or atleast one sequel for sure.

sarkar was good movie.sarkar raj being the sequel always had hard challenge to be better than sarkar. The fact is no matter what they make it, people will always compare the sequel with prequel and say its not that good.
But Sarkar raj simply is a very good movie and its worth watching.Good direction and good story continuation from sarkar.Do not count on others’ review and go watch yourself and judge the movie,I m sure many people gonna like it.
I give this movie 4/5.
