If you haven’t laughed all year long, here is your chance to have the last laugh of 2007. With laugh riots like No Entry and Hulchul to his credit, Anees Bazmee is all set to ascertain his reputation as the one who makes his audience laugh the longest.

Welcome is said to be the “marriage of the year”, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif who will want to recreate the chemistry of Namastey London. The movie boasts of actors from mix genres spanning charismatic Feroz Khan, ever green Anil Kapoor, sizzling Mallika Sherawat and of course our very own Nana Patekar. After his memorable performance as writer/don in Bluff Master, everyone hopes to see Nana Patekar repeat the magic once again.

Synopsis:

Dr. Ghungroo (Paresh Rawal), a respected doctor is happy with his life, except for one thing - finding a suitable bride for his nephew Rajiv (finally Akshay Kumar seems to have found recognition for his actual name). The bride should be “sundar-susheel” and more importantly, she should have no ‘Police ka lafda’. Even after countless interviews, Dr. Ghungroo cannot find a daughter-in-law of his choice and Rajiv seems headed towards eternal bachelorhood.

On the other hand is Uday Shetty( Nana Patekar), a dreaded underworld don who hopes to be an actor some day. His biggest depression in life is that his sister Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) is still unmarried. Every prospective groom runs away after realizing where his life would be headed after marrying a gangster’s sister. Sanjana’s spinsterhood for life seems inevitable too.

Rajiv and Sanjana meet and fall madly in love. Dr. Ghungroo and Shetty too seem to be content with the match until they realize the truth - Dr.Ghungroo realizes that Sanjana is a gangster’s sister and Uday Shetty realizes that Dr. Ghungroo will not allow the marriage without being threatened.

As marriage plans go awry Majnu Bhai(Anil Kapoor) and RDX (Feroze Khan) - Shetty’s henchmen - are happily shooting around. Majnu Bhai is happier with painting brushes rather than guns while RDX is all too content loving his own son and his prize guns.

Just as you are about to think the story is confusingly humorous there seems to be enough space for Isha (and no prizes for guessing that its Mallika who plays the role) . Isha is Raijv’s childhood bride. Instead Majnu Bhai and Uday Shetty are smitten by the pretty lass. To know who gets who at the end of it is anyone’s guess, but to laugh away the end of 2007 you are WELCOME!
