After the superb reviews for his earlier movie Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, here comes another stellar from Sudhir Mishra. A die hard fan of Mirza Ghalib, this brilliant director is ready to score yet again with the critics.

Khoya Khoya Chand

The movie was to be earlier titled Bahut nikle mere armaan, but was later changed to khoya khoya chand. Khoya Khotya Chaand is based on the golden era of Indian film industry in the mid 1950’s and 1960’s. With much soothing music from Shantanu Moitra, the music takes oneself, half a century back.

Synopsis:

It is the story of how two men try to manipulate an ambitious girl to their interests. How a young Zafar Ali Naqvi (Shiney Ahuja) born of an old Nawabi family from Lucknow emerges as a writer with penchant for new ideas. His search takes him from Lucknow to Bombay and into the glamorous world of cinema. And before long he gets drawn into this glittering world where he liberates an actress Nikhat Bano(Soha Ali Khan) from the stranglehold of a powerful actor Pram Kumar (Rajat Kapoor), and then begins to use her for himself eventually falling in love with her. Nikhat a beautiful young girl evolves rapidly from a relatively unknown extra, to a starlet to a known well known face in the industry. But now she realizes that the only thing she yearns for is to be loved and cared by someone. But for that she has to choose between love and ambition

The story of a volatile love that they can neither live with, nor without… And the story of the difficult and often heartbreaking choices they have to make… which once made have to be lived by. There is no going back. Will dreams come true?

Khoya Khoya Chand After playing a director aka Mahesh Bhatt in Woh Lamhe, Shiney Ahuja is playing the writer-director character in this period film. With Soha Ali Khan emerging out of her mother’s shadow and all set to dazzle the screen with her charm and dancing skills, with supporting casts boasting names like Rajat Kapoor, Sushmita Mukherjee, Vinay Pathak and the like this movie will surely appeal to the masses and especially the audience inclined towards theater. Sudhir Mishra has done his bit to pay tribute to the Indian cinema.

Let’s see how far the Moon shines! :-)

‘khoya khoya chand’ is a sensitive movie about travails & tribulations of film world. Soha Ali Khan has come up with a powerful performance.
